19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately separating with former trainer his previous coach.
Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after that period of that year.
The win also means the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.
Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the final five games to gain the advantage.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his first professional championship, took control to force a final set.
Moutet rescued four early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, the winner earned the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
